In Jeannie's words....."This party was a team effort from the start. Having noticed our complementary styles, Linnette from PaperGlitter and I (Jeannie Gearin from cakesbyjeannie.com) decided to work on a project together. My daughter Molly’s upcoming birthday seemed to be the perfect occasion. Linnette generously accommodated Molly’s every request. The theme was DONUTS! But like most young girls, Molly loves many things like the color blue and cows and pretty flowery patterns. Linnette transformed all of these ideas into a charming and original party design.

I took my inspiration from the patterns and images in the party set and started on the dessert menu. Donuts, of course, with a colorful glaze in vanilla and chocolate were the star of the dessert table. Sugar cookies, matching the milk carton design, were decorated in fondant.

The doily cookies were made by printing up a sheet from the kit as an edible image at my local cake decorating store [I rolled out a thin piece of fondant, lightly sprayed it with water, and firmly attached the edible sheet . I placed it in the freezer for about 5 minutes to set. The fondant sheet was then cut out with a cookie cutter into shapes]. Tim Tam cookie pops were made with the popular Tim Tam cookie from Australia instead of cake (inspired by Bubble and Sweet’s Blog version). They were decorated with edible image sheets cut with a heart cookie cutter.

Molly requested a flowery cake with a bow and an eleven on top. Fondant was used to match the colors and patterns of the party. Cupcakes shined in their wrappers and picks designed with polka dots and stripes repeating the blue color and donut design. The yellow cupcake cups from Sweet LuLu added a touch of color and those too were topped with edible image discs. The glassine bags from Bake it Pretty were embellished with labels and filled with donut holes, ready to take home for tomorrow’s breakfast.

The photo frame was quickly decorated using the sizzix machine to cut frames from the design sheets LInnette added to the kit. Photos of the birthday girl were printed at home in gray scale and made a great background to the party. The banner was all that was needed to finish the backdrop. The other paper goods and candy added so much décor to the room. The guests were treated to a table set with floral plates and checked flatware. Vintage napkins and miniature carnations added a splash of color.

The paperie table contrasted brightly against the yellow walls. The tiny boxes held donuts to go. The guests were able to fill the larger white bags with candy and cookies to take home. This party included too many treats to eat at one party. The younger guests enjoyed the paper hats and coloring sheets . An unseasonably warm day allowed for a rousing game of Capture the Flag and an opportunity to run off some of that sugar. Molly enjoyed her party as much as Linnette and I enjoyed working on it together."
